The Progressive Governors’ Forum, PGF, Secretaries to the Governments of States, SGSs Thursday honoured the state Governor, Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori with the Outstanding Leadership Award for Excellence in Governance.

The Award which was in recognition of Governor Oborevwori’s Humility, visionary leadership, and Transformative strides in the State, was presented to the Governor at the PGF Quarterly Strategy Meeting of Secretaries to the Governments of States (SGSs) governed by the APC, held at the Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba.

Presenting the award, the Director-General of the APC Governors’ Forum, Mr. Folorunsho Aluko described Governor Oborevwori as “a beacon of Humility, Progress and Excellence in Governance.” Mr Aluko lauded the Delta Governor for redefining public service through Accessibility, Empathy, and Disciplined Leadership.

The PGF DG noted that the Asaba meeting symbolized the renewed energy of cooperative Federalism and emphasized that the SGs of APC states were not merely Administrators but Architects of coherence and custodians of purpose in implementing the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He stated that the PGF’s tribute to Governor Oborevwori was not only a recognition of personal excellence but also a call to collective progress, adding that history rarely rewards those who merely occupy offices; it celebrates those who build systems that outlive them.

In his remarks, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, expressed deep appreciation to the PGF for the honour and described the award as a motivation to continue delivering Good Governance to the people of Delta State.

The Governor represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, highlighted several milestones under the MORE Agenda, including the reconstruction of the Warri–Sapele–Benin Dual Carriageway; ongoing flyover projects at Otovwodo Junction in Ughelli and Uromi Junction in Agbor, and the inauguration of the new NDDC Delta State Office in Warri, all designed to accelerate infrastructure and economic growth.

The Governor also announced a ₦10 billion intervention for clearing the backlog of retirees’ benefits and an additional monthly allocation of ₦500 million between September and December 2025, describing the move as a testament to his administration’s commitment to inclusivity and economic justice.

The Secretary to the Delta State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, in his welcome address, said Delta State’s participation in the PGF family had deepened intergovernmental collaboration and broadened learning opportunities among State leaders.

The meeting with the theme “Strengthening Sub National Governance Synergy for Effective Policy Coordination in APC-Governed States,” brought together, high-level officials of APC Governed states to chart strategies for deepening Administrative collaboration and Governance reforms across the country.
