The Hope Oborevwori Support Group has commended the Delta State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, for approving a N200,000 increase in the monthly salary of doctors in the state, alongside a N100,000 tax-free allowance for house officers, as part of deliberate efforts to attract and retain medical professionals.

In a statement signed by the Group Coordinator, Hon Paul Oruma, the group described the governor’s decision as timely and visionary, noting that it reflects a deep commitment to strengthening the healthcare system in Delta State.

The group stated that the salary increment would not only boost the morale of medical practitioners but also enhance service delivery across public health institutions in the state.

It emphasized that the move would help curb the migration of doctors to other states and countries in search of better remuneration, thereby ensuring that Deltans continue to benefit from quality healthcare services.

The group further noted that the approval of a tax-free allowance for house officers demonstrates the administration’s recognition of young medical professionals and their critical role in the healthcare value chain.

According to the statement, the governor has once again shown responsive leadership by prioritizing the welfare of essential workers, particularly in the health sector where demands remain high.

The group added that the initiative aligns with the broader M.O.R.E Agenda of the Oborevwori administration, which focuses on meaningful development, opportunities for all, realistic reforms, and enhanced peace and security.

The group also applauded the governor for sustaining investments in the health sector, including the upgrading of facilities and recruitment of medical personnel, which collectively contribute to improved healthcare delivery.

They expressed confidence that the latest intervention would further position Delta State as a preferred destination for medical professionals seeking conducive working conditions.

The Hope Oborevwori Support Group reaffirmed its unwavering support for Governor Oborevwori, pledging to continue mobilizing grassroots backing for his administration and its people-oriented policies.
