Delta State House of Assembly has approved the request of the State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori seeking the re-issuance of over N18 billion naira bank guarantee in favour Bastanchury Power Solution Nigeria limited for the Asaba Independent power plant.

The approval was sequel to the Governor’s letter which was read during Tuesday’s plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt Hon. Emomotimi Guwor.

Governor Oborevwori in his letter addressed to the house informed the house of Access Bank PLC’s willingness to collaborate with the State Government in the management of the Composite Internally Generated Revenue, IGR Account, for the purpose of boosting revenue performance through improved management systems.

He said that the transfer of the State composite IGR Account from Sterling Bank to Access Bank would require Access Bank to assume the obligation of preventing any breach in the existing agreement with Bastanchury Power Solution Nigeria Limited.

Also at plenary, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, constituted an Ad-hoc Committee to examine and scrutinize the Draft Document arising from a Post Legislative Scrutiny Workshop held for Honourable Members of the State Assembly by the Westminster Foundation for Democracy.

The Committee to be led by the Leader of the house, Hon. Emeka Nwaobi also has Honourables Ferguson Onwo, Charles Emetulu, Alfred Martins, Oloye Pereotu, Marilyn Okowa-Daramola, Matthew Omonade, James Augoye and Blessing Ajoja as members, with Otto Aghoghobia as Secretary.

The Speaker also constituted another 5-man Committee headed by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowvowo, to oversee the planned parley between members of the House and its non-sitting members scheduled for 12th to 14th November 2025.

Meanwhile, under Matters of Personal Explanation, the Member representing Ndokwa West, Hon. Charles Emetulu, notified the House of the burial arrangements of the Pioneer Majority Leader of the House, Late Hon. Anieke Ifemeni.
