Delta State Governor Rt Honorable Sheriff Oborevwori has presented a staff of office to the Ovie of Udu Kingdom Okporua the first.
The ceremony which attracted a host of dignitaries from all walks of life formed the avenue to celebrate some of the achievements of the Udu kingdom vis avis the fostering of harmonious understanding between Udu and its neighbors.
Presenting the staff of office on the Udu Monarch Delta State Governor Rt Honorable Sheriff Oborevwori represented by the Deputy Governor Sir Monday Onyeme described Udu Kingdom as one of the peaceful kingdoms in the state and implored Okporua the first to continue to sustain the record.
He noted that Okporua the first had distinguished himself in the corporate world and has also affected lives positively expressing optimism that with his elevation as the Ovie of Udu Kingdom much more achievements would be recorded.
Speaking in an interview with DeltaTimes, shortly after the presentation of staff of office on the Ovie of Udu Kingdom Okporua the first some dignitaries including the member representing Ughelli-Udu Federal Constituency in the House of Representative Rt, Honorable Francis Waive, The Chairman Delta State Chapter of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria PFN Bishop Abos Willie, Chairman Board of Directors Delta Broadcasting Service DBS Warri Elegbete Moses Odibo, Senior Special Assistant SSA to the state Governor on Political Mr Obule all gave thanks to God for the smooth process which characterized the selection of Okporua the first as the Ovie of Udu Kingdom.
They noted that the emergence of Okporua the first as the Ovie of Udu Kingdom has put to rest issues of factions in Udu Kingdom stating that Udu is now united more than ever before.
Various Cultural dance groups in Udu Kingdom entertained guests during the event.
