The Federal Government has declared Thursday, May 1, 2025, as a public holiday to mark this year’s Workers’ Day across the country.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

The holiday is meant to honour the contribution of workers to the country’s development.

The government acknowledged that the commitment and hard work shown by Nigerian workers have helped the country earn respect globally and move forward in many areas.

Workers were praised for their discipline and dedication to their duties.

The Interior Minister called on workers to remain creative and efficient in their fields, saying these qualities are necessary to improve governance and help every citizen enjoy the benefits of the nation’s resources.

He also said that labour should be seen as a noble activity and a key part of building the country.

The government used the occasion to restate its promise to keep all Nigerians and foreigners safe, stressing that safety remains a top priority.

As the nation prepares to celebrate Workers’ Day, the Minister asked the public to stay hopeful, saying that the current administration is working to fulfill the goals of its Renewed Hope Agenda.
