Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun FUPRE Professor Rim-Rukeh Akpofure has attributed the massive development witnessed in the University to God and the support from his colleagues and other staff of the Institution.

Professor Akpofure made this known in a media chat with journalists to mark the end of his five-year tenure as Vice Chancellor of FUPRE.

Stating that the Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun FUPRE has continued to maintain its reputation as one of the leading Petroleum Tertiary institutions in Africa, Vice Chancellor of FUPRE Professor Rim-Rukeh Akpofure said the feat came with serious commitment and dedication.

Professor Akpofure said his five-year tenure was characterized by numerous challenges including the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic era but was thankful to God for been able to successfully complete his tenure as the fourth Vice Chancellor of the Institution and being able to hand over the baton to his successor Professor Ezekiel Agbalagba.

The media briefing by the FUPRE Vice Chancellor Professor Rim-Rukeh Akpofure also touched on his achievements in repositioning the institution and taking it to its pride of place.

Professor Akpofure also added that through transparency and due diligence his administration was able to resolve past lingering disputes between FUPRE and its hosts communities.

The FUPRE Vice Chancellor who gave a run down of activities lined up to mark the end of his tenure as FUPRE VC disclosed that he had also documented in a book some of his regrets and prospects which he could not achieve for the institution expressing hope that his successor Professor Ezekiel Agbalagba would build on them to continue to foster the growth of FUPRE.

Professor Akpofure during the media chat was flanked by the Deputy Vice chancellor Administration Professor Doris Ogeleka and the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics Professor God’s will Ofualagba.

Also present were the Registrar Dr Jane Omoyine, the Institution’s Bursar Alhaji Garba Yau Nabaiyi and the incoming Vice Chancellor Professor Ezekiel Agbalagba amongst other staff of FUPRE.

The end of tenure media briefing featured questions from some journalists present.
