Delta State Commissioner for Works, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, has stated that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is focused on delivering substantial projects and has no interest in engaging in political battles.
Aniagwu, who was recently directed to oversee the State Information Ministry, made this statement at a press briefing in Asaba, the state capital.
According to Aniagwu, Governor Oborevwori has kept faith with the continuation and completion of inherited projects, while also initiating new ones. Some of the inherited, ongoing, and completed projects include the Okpanam-Ibusa bypass, Beneku bridge, and the 6-story High Court Complex in Asaba.
Aniagwu also highlighted the governor’s efforts in initiating new projects, such as the three flyover bridges and road expansion works currently ongoing in the Warri and Effurun corridor. Additionally, several roads have been completed within Asaba and the capital territory, while new ones have been initiated in Delta South, Sapele, and Okpe.
The commissioner emphasized that Governor Oborevwori is committed to building bridges of possibilities, connecting communities, and promoting business interaction and social connections among Deltans. He believes that every Deltan deserves the dividend of democracy and is working tirelessly to ensure that.
In the education sector, Aniagwu noted that the administration has established and operationalized a campus of the Southern Delta State University at Orerokpe, as well as introduced a College of Health Sciences at the institution’s main campus in Ozoro
The administration has also made significant strides in the housing sector, commencing the building of 50 housing units in Ozoro, Kwale, and Owa-Oyibu as a pilot scheme. Furthermore, a deal has been sealed with UTM LNG to harness the state’s natural gas reserves.
Aniagwu highlighted the governor’s commitment to fiscal discipline and efficient resource allocation, stating that over N200 billion has been paid to liquidate the state’s debt stock. Contractors are also being mobilized with new jobs, and outstanding job certificates are being paid as they fall due.
