Delta State Government says it will continue to partner and create the enabling environment for Oil and Gas companies operating in the state to carry out exploration activities without any disturbance from host communities.

The state commissioner for Oil and Gas, Hon Peter Uviejitobor stated this while supervising the signing of the Global Memorandum of Understanding, GMOU, between Blue Star Gas Limited and its host communities ahead of the Iseni Gas supply pipeline and facilities project, which crisscross Delta and Bayelsa States.

Delta State Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Hon Peter Uviejitobor, representatives from the Ministry of Justice from Delta and Bayelsa States supervised the signing of the Global Memorandum of Understanding between the representatives of the twenty-seven host communities and the firm, Blue Star Gas Limited in a calm and peaceful atmosphere.

The State Commissioner stated that the State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, is particularly happy with the signing of the GMOU by all stakeholders, noting that when the project finally comes on stream, it would create employment for skilled and unskilled personnel and also boost the local economy of the host communities.

Hon Uviejitobor said the project is designed to transport Gas from Bayelsa State to the Otor-rogun gas plant for refining before exportation, urging the host communities to give all necessary support to the firm for the project to be completed within the time frame.

The Delta State Oil and Gas Commissioner called on the oil firm handling the project to adhere strictly to the signed GMOU in the execution of the project, assuring of the commitment of the state Government to ensure that the project is executed without any form of disturbances from the host Communities.

The project manager of Blue Star Gas Limited, Engr Jerry Anietie, who gave an insight on the scope of the project, disclosed that they would take advantage of the dry season to execute the fifty kilometers pipeline, which ran through four local Governments and twenty-seven communities.

Engr Anniete thanked the Delta State Government and the Bayelsa State Ministry of Mineral and Natural Resources for their role in ensuring that the singing of the GMOU comes to fruition.

Some community representatives, after signing the GMOU, expressed satisfaction with the process, saying they would give support to the project as it will no doubt bring development to their communities.
