Leaders of the Itsekiri nation have called on all sons and daughters of Itsekiri across Delta State and beyond to come out en masse on Saturday, May 16, 2026, for a grand reception in honour of the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori.
The event, scheduled to hold at the Nana College Field by 10am, is expected to attract traditional rulers, political leaders, youth groups, women organizations, community stakeholders and supporters from various parts of the state.
According to the leaders, the gathering will also serve as an official endorsement of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as sole candidates for the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued ahead of the event, the Itsekiri leaders described Governor Oborevwori as a leader who has demonstrated commitment to peace, development and inclusive governance across Delta State, stressing that his administration has continued to carry all ethnic nationalities along.
They noted that President Tinubu has also shown strong leadership and dedication towards national growth and economic reforms, adding that the endorsement reflects the confidence and support of the Itsekiri nation for the continued leadership of both men beyond 2027.
The statement urged all Itsekiri sons and daughters, party faithfuls, supporters and residents of Warri Kingdom to turn out in large numbers to give Governor Oborevwori a warm reception and demonstrate the unity and political strength of the Itsekiri people.
Saturday’s gathering is expected to mark a major political event in Delta State as stakeholders across the region converge at Nana College Field in solidarity with President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori ahead of the 2027 elections.
