DELTA STATE GOVERNMENT COMMENCE CONSTRUCTION OF ACCESS ROAD TO ASABA WATERFRONT CITY

Delta State Government has commenced Construction of Access Road to the Proposed Asaba Waterfront City in the state capital.Governor Sheriff Oborevwori disclosed this during inspection of the project in Asaba.

Governor Oborevwori disclosed that the project was conceived by the previous Administration through a Public Private Partnership (PPP) Model pointing out that the state Government’s Role was to Construct a 6-lane Access Road to the New city while the Developers were expected to reclaim the land and Develop the city.

The Governor noted that Asaba was becoming very Attractive to property Developers who were coming from Lagos to Asaba because the capital city was becoming a Cosmopolitan town.

He said the contracting firm has done about 20 percent of the job stressing that the challenge they were having was the buildings on the right of way.

Governor Oborevwori revealed that money has been released for compensation to the property owners and to the contractor for the road project.

Some owners of buildings in the area thanked the Governor for the bold step and appealed to him to prevail on the contracting firm not to allow the developer block the canal that took flood water to River Niger.

They pledged continued support to the contractor towards early completion of the project.Governor Oborevwori also inspected the 4.5 kilometres Oko-Amakom to Oko-Obiakpu main Alignment Road where he affirmed that the road was important to the people of Oko in Oshimili South.

He said the vision of his Administration was to open up Rural Areas to enhance the Economic Development of Rural Dwellers.On the Marine Road Off Cable Point Road Asaba, Governor Oborevwori said the construction of the Road was aimed at Boosting the Economy of the capital city.

He assured that Government was working hard to clean up Asaba.Governor Oborevwori also inspected construction works at Leo Okonweze and Odozi-Obodo Streets, off Ezenei Avenue, in Asaba and urged the contractors to expedite completion of the Roads.

On the blocked drains on the Ezenei road,he directed the Commissioner for Environment to ensure that landlords supervise the clearing of Drains around their premises.
