The All Progressives Congress (APC), Delta State, has ratified the removal of its Local Government Chairmen in Ethiope West and Ughelli North, while also nullifying the suspension of some key party leaders in Ethiope West.
This was part of the resolutions reached at the State Working Committee (SWC) meeting held on Monday, October 28, 2025, at the party’s State Secretariat in Asaba.
The meeting was presided over by the State Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, and extensively deliberated on reports submitted by the State Vice Chairman and Delta Central Senatorial District Chairman, Chief Paulinus Akpeki.
In a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, Esq., the SWC said it carefully reviewed developments in the two local government areas and took decisions in line with the APC Constitution.
The committee approved the removal of Mr. Efe Amughoro (Chairman) and Mr. Andrew Enyure (Vice Chairman) following a vote of no confidence passed by the Ethiope West LGA Executive Committee on September 25, 2025.
Their removal was based on allegations of gross misconduct, dereliction of duty, insubordination, forgery, and misappropriation of party funds.
The SWC found the procedure consistent with the party’s constitutional provisions and accordingly approved the decision, recognizing Mr. Aboy Erukayenure as Acting Chairman and Mr. Arthur Okeh as Acting Vice Chairman pending ratification by higher party organs.Similarly, the SWC upheld the removal of Mr. Onabedje Obakpororo (Chairman), Mrs. Beauty Ubogun-Nze (Secretary), and Mr. Henry Ophori (Organizing Secretary) of Ughelli North LGA.
The decision, taken at a meeting of the Ughelli North LGA Executive Committee on October 4, 2025, was predicated on allegations of anti-party activities, refusal to convene meetings, and insubordination.
The SWC affirmed that due process was followed and approved the appointment of Mr. Samuel Evwighono Onofeghare (Acting Chairman), Ms. Juliet Oduma (Acting Secretary), and Pastor Daniel Osiebe (Acting Organizing Secretary) to fill the positions temporarily.
On the Suspension of some members and leaders of the party in Ethiope West, the Delta APC leadership also voided the purported suspension of several party leaders and members including Chief Ighoyota Amori, Hon. Christian Onogba, Hon. Philomena Ededdy, Hon. Godstime Eyowhara, Hon. Benjamin Oboh, Hon. Ejimiyoma Felix, Chief Precious Ajanor, Hon. Ejiro Etacherure, and Hon. Godday Ighomena.
The SWC ruled that the disciplinary actions failed to comply with Article 21 of the APC Constitution, describing them as unconstitutional, null, and void. It, therefore, restored all affected members to full membership rights.
The SWC directed that the reports from Ethiope West and Ughelli North be transmitted to the party’s National Leadership for ratification and further action.
It also clarified that in the event of vacancies in any party office, the assistant officer automatically assumes office in an acting capacity until a substantive replacement is nominated, in line with the APC Constitution.
Reaffirming its commitment to internal democracy, Elder Sobotie urged members to maintain discipline, loyalty, and unity, stressing that the party would not tolerate acts capable of undermining its cohesion in Delta State.
“The Party will not hesitate to invoke the full provisions of its Constitution against any acts of factionalism, disobedience, or conduct capable of undermining the unity of the Party in Delta State,” the statement read.
