Delta State Governor Rt Honorable Sheriff Oborevwori has been called upon to extend his developmental strides towards reviving the Deghele-Elume Polytechnic situated in Sapele Local Government Area to help open up the area for economic activities.

The call was made by a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party PDP in Sapele Local Government Area, Bishop Kingsley Majemite, popularly called Obeba 1, while reflecting on the achievements of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

Stating that the Deghele-Elume Polytechnic if functional would bring higher education closer to the people of the communities, Okpe kingdom and Delta State at large, Bishop Majemite expressed worries over the abandonment of the Polytechnic by successive administrations of the state but appealed to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to revive the academic institution in its administration’s drive to enhance educational opportunities for all Deltans.

In one of his visits to the site of the Deghele-Elume Polytechnic, Bishop Majemite observed the sorry state of the institution, noting that even though Delta State boasts of several universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and technical institutions of learning completing the Deghele-Elume Polytechnic would no doubt improve education and the commercial life of the area.

He stated that the Deghele-Elume Polytechnic was so important to the rural dwellers and the entire state, disclosing that the completion of the institution was long overdue.

While corroborating the views of Bishop Kingsley Majemite, some residents of Elume Community also lamented the sorry state of the Polytechnic premises, noting that it has been overtaken by weeds, with parts of the property used as farmland as a result of the Polytechnic’s abandonment.
