With the Opening ceremony of the Ika Nation Football Tournament held, which saw Boji Boji ( ward 3) defeating Akumazi (ward 7) by a lone goal, action kicked off across the various centers.
In the first match of Day 2 action, Ward 3 showed their dominance as they defeated Ward 6 by 3-1.
In the other game, after battling the entire 90mins without a winner, with the scoreline ending 1-1, ward 9 came out victorious via penalty shootout to send packing ward 5 with a 4-2 win.
Ward 9 had a easy day, without losing a sweat, as their opponent ward 12 failed to show up, giving ward 9 straight qualification to the next round of the tournament. Ward 13 and ward 8 also failed to show up for their encounter.
The Ika Nation football tournament which is being sponsored by The Udoka Nwaeweche Foundation, is a football tournament for communities and wards in Ika North East and South local government area, aimed at uniting the various communities and also to give football players in the area the opportunity to showcase their God’s Given Talents.
