It was an atmosphere of conviviality, excitement and reflection into the past as old students of Zik Secondary School Sapele came together to celebrate the maiden national reunion of the Association.
The inaugural national reunion of old students Association of Zik Secondary School, Sapele started with the commissioning of the solar powered street lights at the premises of their alma matre before processing to the venue of the reunion party to wine ,dine, bond among themselves as well as displays of beautiful dance steps.The National President of the body.
Professor Hope Eghagha in his speech described the first reunion of old students of the school as historic and nostalgic moments filled with joy.
Professor Eghagha who decried the infrastructural decay in the school, said that the Association is going to engage government and put funds together to revamp the citadel of learning that has produced Men that are striving in their careers and profession.
Some old students who spoke to newsmen including the Chairman of the Board Of Directors BOT of the body, Okakuru Robert Onome represented by Andrew Ubido, Olorogun Anthony Onoharigho, the Chairman of the Lagos State Branch, Chief Emmanuel Turner, and a non member of the body, Hon. Monday Igbuya shared different experiences meeting with old classmates for over many decades also spoke on improving on educational standards in Zik Secondary School and all public schools across the state.
For their parts, the Chairman Planning Committee of the National reunion Mr Anthony Owherhi and the Secretary Mr Victor Okotie both affirmed that the first national reunion of the body was a huge success.
Head Teacher of Zik Secondary School, Dr Anthonia Overah in her speech, thanked the old students of the school for what they are giving back to their school but also appealed for more infrastructure, employment of more teachers among other needs of the school.
Highpoint of the first national reunion was a minute silence observed for members that have passed away, cultural performance by the students of the school, presentation of cash awards to students of the school who participated in the debate competition hosted by the Lagos State Branch, presentation of awards to some notable persons for their contribution to the body, cutting of the reunion cake, cultural displays by the students, among other activities.
