BURUTU LOCAL GOVERNMENT CHAIRMAN DR JULIUS TAKEME ANNOUNCE PLANS TO LAUNCH A COMPREHENSIVE SENSITIZATION CAMPAIGN AND DISTRIBUTION OF DRUGS OVER CHOLERA OUTBREAK IN THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA

In a bid to combat the ongoing cholera outbreak in Burutu Local Government Area, the Local Government Chairman, Honourable Julius Takeme, has announced plans to launch a comprehensive sensitization campaign and distribute essential drugs to health centers across the affected communities.

Honourable Julius Takeme while speaking during the first executive meeting of his administration for the year 2025, expressed deep concern over the rising number of cholera cases, stressing that they cannot afford to sit back and allow such health crisis spread further, which is prompting the council’s immediate action.

He informed that the sensitization campaign will focus on raising awareness about cholera prevention and proper hygiene practices, with outreach efforts aimed at educating residents about the importance of clean water, sanitation, and early treatment.

The Burutu Council Boss said Health officials of the council will visit communities, engage with local leaders, and distribute educational tips to ensure that residents are well-informed on how to protect themselves and their families from the disease.

Honourable Takeme also disclosed that the distribution of vital cholera treatment drugs will be carried out in coordination with local health centers to ensure timely intervention for those who may be affected.

He emphasized that the initiative was part of a broader plan to improve healthcare infrastructure and access to essential services within the Local Government Area.

The Burutu Council boss reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability, assuring the people of Burutu that their welfare will always be a priority.

The Chairman also promised that his leadership would be marked by proactive measures to improve public health, infrastructure, and overall community well-being, and called on all stakeholders, including traditional leaders, health workers, and residents, to collaborate in the fight against the cholera outbreak and in building a healthier, stronger Burutu Local Government Area.
