DELTA STATE GOVERNMENT CALLS FOR CAREFUL STUDY INTO CIRCUMSTANCES THAT LEAD TO FIRS DISASTER IN AGBOR

The Delta State government have ordered a careful study into the circumstances that lead to Sunday afternoon fire disaster which lead to loss of lives and properties at Agbor, Headquarters of Ika South Council area of Delta State.

The State Deputy Governor sir Monday John Onyeme who represented Governor Sheriff Oborevwori stated this when he visited the site of the incident at old Lagos Asaba Road Agbor in company of top government officials.

The fire incident which occurred at about 1pm Sunday afternoon followed a mishap by a loaded petroleum tanker which was descending the slope but suffered what observers suspected to be a brake failure.

The collision forced the vehicle to burst into flames with great impact on neighbouring buildings.

The state deputy governor sir Monday John Onyeme while commiserating with the people of Agbor over the incident said government was painted by the incident.

He urged the Commissioner for health, the secretary to the state government and chairman of Ika South Local Government to investigate the health needs of survivals and any damage that could be repaired with impacted buildings.

The deputy governor who also visited the home of one of the victims, a sixty five years old Mrs. Debra Akpomgbor who died in the inferno condoned with her husband Mr. Fusus Akpomgbor who narrowly escaped death with his son on that fateful day.
