Councilors of Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State have described as false a recent viral video claiming that they are being subjected to hardship by the Local Government Council Chairman, Hon Julius Takeme.

The Burutu Local Government Councillors made this known during plenary at the legislative chamber, in Burutu Local Government Area.

Speaking at plenary held at the Burutu councillor’s legislative chamber, in Burutu, the councillors one after the other expressed shock over the said video going viral, claiming that they are being subjected to hardship by the Chairman Burutu Local Government.

They dismissed the claim, describing it as false, misleading and not reflective of the realities within the council.

They also rejected claims in the video that the 2025 budget was hastily signed without following due legislative process or that councilors were coerced into endorsing it.In a unanimous response, the lawmakers emphasized that Barr. Demebide Pele who allegedly did the video, was not authorized to speak on their behalf.

They described the Executive Chairman of Burutu Local Government council, Hon Julius Takeme as one of the most transparent and legislature-friendly leaders in the history of the council, noting that the relationship between the legislative and executive arms remains cordial and productive.

Reacting specifically to the budget approval process, the Leader of the House, Rt. Hon. Odafe Ekereke, affirmed that all due processes were strictly followed and that no councilor was forced to sign the document.

He also dismissed claims that lawmakers were denied access to their official residences, stating that all members have full access and are comfortably accommodated.Rt. Hon. Ekereke went on to describe the council chairman as “God-sent,” commending his leadership and dedication to inclusive governance.

At the conclusion of the session, the lawmakers unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the Executive Chairman Burutu Local Government, Hon Julius Takeme, reinforcing their support for his administration.
